Vehicles are very complex pieces of machinery, and you might feel lost when you go into the shop to have your car worked on. Brakes are one of the most common types of repairs that all vehicles eventually need, and the only way to learn is to start off with some small bits of knowledge so that you better understand when the mechanic talks to you about your car. At Ray Laks Honda, were happy to pass on some knowledge.

Depressing the brake pedal sets off a series of actions. Most notably, when you press the brake pedal, you're compressing the brake fluid in the lines. The compression of the fluid compresses the caliper against the rotor, and the friction causes the wheels to slow.

If the brake fluid in your lines is somehow compromised, your brakes won't work properly. That's why you should have the fluid checked according to the manufacturers guidelines.
